Sustainability in practice
The commitment to the environment at KLINGER Dichtungstechnik has been above average for many years.
Sustainable action has always been a high priority for KLINGER Dichtungstechnik (KDT) in Gumpoldskirchen. The careful use of resources is a decisive factor for many customers in choosing KLINGER solutions. That is why KDT places high demands on sustainability. The various activities in the area of CSR have also been evaluated and confirmed by an external body.
EMAS - Environmental Management System
As one of the first companies in Austria, we joined the EU's voluntary environmental management system (EMAS) back in 1998. This eco-management and audit scheme of the European Union aims at improving the environmental performance of organisations. The publication of environmentally relevant data in an environmental statement is an important instrument for meeting environmental objectives.
In 2019, the „Austrian Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism“ presented KLINGER Dichtungstechnik with the highest national award for its environmental statement in newspaper format.
Our motivation behind our voluntary participation in an environmental management system can be summed up in a single sentence: “We wish to leave this world a little better than we found it.”
UN Global Compact signed
In mid-June 2021, KDT also joined the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest initiative for corporate responsibility. By signing this worldwide pact for a more social and ecological globalization, the company commits itself to actively working towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
KLINGER Dichtungstechnik can contribute in particular to three development goals of the United Nations with its product portfolio and careful use of resources in the manufacturing process: “Clean water and sanitation”, “Sustainable consumption and production” and “Climate protection measures”.
Extension of our integrated management system (IMS) by ISO 45001
KLINGER Dichtungstechnik has always been committed to highest operational safety, but not yet within the strict framework of a standard designed for this purpose.
However, this has changed in 2021… KLINGER Dichtungstechnik has successfully passed the certification process for ISO 45001 – the standard for occupational health and safety management.
ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems
Our environmental management standards are audited on a regular basis and subsequently recertified in accordance with the requirements ISO 14001.
Ensuring that future generations are able to inherit a world worth living in, is also a measure we execute at a regional level. KLINGER Dichtungstechnik is therefore proud to report that its environmental management system is also EMAS compliant. The EMAS certificate can be downloaded here.
